Victoria ISD is pleased to announce that Sarah Young has been approved by the Board of Trustees to serve as the next principal of Rowland Elementary School.
Young, who currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Rowland, has been part of the campus leadership team since July 2024. With over 15 years of experience in education, Young brings a deep understanding of instructional leadership and student-centered learning to her new role.
Prior to joining Rowland Elementary, Young served as an Instructional Coach at Shields Elementary and spent over a decade in the classroom teaching elementary at both Vickers and Schorlemmer Elementary Schools from 2009 to 2023.
“Rowland Elementary holds a special place in my heart, and I am honored to continue serving this incredible school community as principal,” said Young. “I am excited to build on the strong foundation already in place and continue working with our dedicated staff, families, and students to ensure every child thrives.”
Young earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and her master’s degree in educational leadership from Lamar University.
Her appointment is for the 2025-26 school year, and she will begin her new role with a focus on continuing Rowland’s mission of academic excellence, student growth, and community engagement.
