Victoria ISD Offering Campus Tours and In-Person Informational Sessions

Community members can learn more about the Victoria Independent School District’s $156.845 million bond proposal during a pair of campus tours and informational sessions that will occur prior to the start of early voting.

“We are excited to have the chance to provide our community with in-person tours of our campuses being considered for the rebuild of new campus facilities,” said Dr. Greg Bonewald, deputy superintendent and bond facilitator. “We saw firsthand how viewing these facilities aided the Bond Planning Task Force in creating their recommendations, and we want to provide that same level of access to our community as a whole as they consider the bond proposal.”

Campus tours for Mission Valley Elementary and Stroman Middle School will be held over two evenings and one Saturday. On Monday, April 5 at 6 p.m. community members are invited to tour Mission Valley Elementary, which is proposed to be rebuilt as a new campus at its existing site. Stroman Middle School, which is also proposed to be a new campus at its existing site will also be available to tour on Tuesday, April 6 at 6 p.m.

A weekend tour option will be available on  Saturday, April 10 with a Mission Valley tour starting at 10 a.m. and a Stroman tour starting at 1 p.m.

Two informational sessions will start at 6:30 p.m. each evening, and be held at the Victoria Fine Arts Center on Monday, April 12, and Tuesday, April 13. Both sessions will be Livestreamed on the Victoria ISD Facebook page.

The proposal is on the May 1 ballot, with early voting starting on April 19.

The bond vote includes district-wide priority repairs, including updated air conditioning, windows, roofing, and increased safety measures, the rebuild of Mission Valley Elementary and Stroman Middle School, and new playgrounds at all elementary schools.

To date, Deputy Superintendent and Bond Facilitator Dr. Greg Bonewald has made over 20 informational presentations to civic/community organizations, district staff, and local faith-based organizations about the bond.

The deadline to register to vote in the Victoria ISD bond election is April 1. For more information regarding Bond 2021, visit www.visd.net/bond2021/
